Oboe Quartet

Non-returnable
$59.99
Inspired by Mozart's own oboe quartet, this ambitious work in three movements was developed subsequent to numerous oboe showpieces, including the Oboe Concerto (2023). The first movement, the longest, explores two contrasting themes, the first providing a melodic foundation for the other movements as well. The slow second movement, inspired by a sentence by writer Tommaso Landolfi (“Verso il crepuscolo, quando finalmente le cose assumono il volume e il contorno che loro compete...”), is a crepuscular cavatina. The third movement is a rondò-tarantella that resumes and closes the quartet, dispensing drama, humour and swing accents. While all instruments are called to contribute with expressive solos, the oboe is obviously the lead, and has cadences in the first and third movement.
